The Place of South Pasadena is an early intervention program designed to reduce the risks associated with adolescents who are not otherwise involved in their community. Our goal is to create a safe place for teens where they can participate in engaging activities, and relate to peers and supportive adults, thus increasing their connectedness to each other, school, family, and community. To meet this goal, we are open three afternoons a week during which time teens can drop-in and access a variety of activities that appeal to them. These activities have included Teen Talk groups, arts and crafts, music, games, sports, holiday and birthday celebrations, and snacks. In addition we have brought in community members with expertise in areas such as art, stress reduction, suicide prevention, and substance abuse.
The Place is staffed entirely by volunteers. Click here to meet our Board of Directors. We operate in a space generously provided by the City of South Pasadena for a nominal fee. However, program expenses are funded by donations from community members and friends of The Place.
